This extra strong tape is an extremely efficient packaging option that is stronger than the cardboard itself. It has strands woven length-ways and width-wise that resist tearing. The adhesive has an extra strong grab, but as with all tapes, it is pressure activated, and must be pressed down along the length to be effective.
